Annual concert is the place to see plenty of stars

(…)

Jingle Ball 2005, held Dec. 16, was a knockout. Performers included Kanye West, Shakira, Sean Paul, Frankie J, Ludacris, Fall Out Boy, The Click Five and Chris Brown. The popular boy band of the late ’90s, Backstreet Boys, also was there, a special treat for their fans since the group had disbanded temporarily after seven years of non-stop touring and recording.

Now back together, the group recorded that night’s performance of its new song, “Weird World.” The song is available for download at Z100.com. All the proceeds from each download will benefit the American Red Cross to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Men will be Boys

Mid-90s icons the Backstreet Boys will make their presence heard.

I have to say that when it comes to girl/boy bands, I like Atomic Kitten better than the Backstreet Boys. The latter group was, of course, no small thing back in the day.

BSB was a cult. It still is, sort of.

In case you weren’t an initiate, the five Backstreet Boys are Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell, AJ McLean and Kevin Richardson. Nick is the cute one, according to girldom. There’s one that wears leather and looks scruffy. He’s the bad Boy.

Backstreet Boys—back on track

THEY only took a break for a couple of years; they were never really gone. In fact, Backstreet Boys are back on the road with a world concert tour that will hit Manila come January 20, 2006. Titled the Never Gone Tour, the concert will be held at the Araneta Coliseum, to promote the group’s album of the same title.

The group that made music history with the release of the album Backstreet Boys (1997), Millennium (1999), Black and Blue (2000) and Hits Chapter One (2001), continues the ride to stardom with the new 12-track album.

“We had been touring nonstop for seven or eight years. We were almost living in a bubble. You need to take care of yourself and be able to reflect. The time off gave us the chance to recharge our batteries and step away and see what has happened to our lives,” says the band member Kevin Richardson.

Pop hit makers give thousands of girls something to scream about

Posted in 2005 - Other news on February 6th, 2009 by admin

The girls saved plenty of shrieks for The Backstreet Boys. Nick Carter went center stage to gently open “Just Want You to Know” with his guitar. Howie, Brian, AJ and Kevin joined him for dancing and harmonies then settled onto stools for “Crawling Back to You.”

The megahit “I Want it That Way” came off like an anthem with thousands singing along. BSB gathered around the piano and quieted it down for the tender breakup song “Incomplete,” then quickly incited a riot during “Weird World” when Brian jumped from the stage into the arms of screaming girls.

Jingle Bell Bash features Backstreet Boys reunion

Curse you, Oprah!

Sure, you give people free cars and stuff. But in one fell swoop you also single-handedly squashed the peace of mind of the boy band-loathing masses – people content to believe that trend to be deader than three-day-old road kill.

That meddling Oprah breathed new life into the Backstreet Boys juggernaut late last year when she had AJ McClean (the one with the tattoos) on her show to talk about his stints in rehab.
