ALL that screeching could have crashed the Big Dome’s ceiling.

Some 10,000 people spent an hour and a half withstanding the high-decibel screams of fans who watched the Backstreet Boys (BSB) in concert Friday night at the Araneta Coliseum.

BSB, recognized as the biggest-selling and most popular “boy band” in history, was obviously loved and admired by a predominantly female fan base, who were adolescents when BSB hit international fame 10 years ago.

The non-stop shrieks that echoed throughout the gig was understandable; it was only the second time Filipino fans caught sight of the American dance-pop singing quintet in the flesh—never mind if Nick Carter looked 30 pounds overweight.

Kate Alexa to join the Backstreet Boys on tour!

Australian teen singer-songwriter Kate Alexa is counting her lucky stars. She’s just been selected as the official support act for US superstars the Backstreet Boys when they tour Australia at the end of this month.

To coincide with Kate’s addition to the tour her record label, Liberation Music, are rush releasing to radio her third single “All I Hear,” which Kate just finished recording in America. With a catchy chorus and hooks galore, it’s a single that has smash hit written all over it.

Kate’s debut in the live arena was last year with teen heart throb Jesse McCartney on his national theatre tour. Kate and her band played to over 15,000 young fans, and made a real connection with her audience – evidence of this can be seen on the cd rom component of her new single “All I Hear” (in stores March 6).

Backstreet boys arouse excitement

CRI Exclusive by LiRui – The Backstreet Boys held a concert in Beijing’s Capital Gymnasium last night. It was the curtain-raiser to the 2006 concert season.

The Backstreet Boys first came to China in 2004 and less than one and a half year’s on, they were with us again, giving a hot and exciting performance.

Less than 20 percent of the seats were left empty last night. After a series of intense concerts at the end of 2005, the Backstreet Boys still commanded a large audience and were warmly welcomed.

The boys are back

They no longer literally explode on stage but the big boy band of the 1990s will rock the Shanghai Grand Stage to its rafters next week, writes Michelle Qiao.

The Backstreet Boys of yesterday are now five mature men in their late 20s and early 30s and they’re coming back to Shanghai to stage a concert at the Shanghai Grand Stage next Wednesday.

The band has done tours of the United States and Europe following the June release of their first album together in five years — the pop-rocker, “Never Gone.”

Who to choose- the five good-looking men or the charismatic rocker?

At 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 14, the popular U.S. boy band “Backstreet Boys” and Japanese rocker Gackt (33) will hold concerts at the Gymnastic Stadium and Fencing Stadium in the Olympic Park of Bangi-dong Seoul respectively. They made their rebut in 1995. Both singers gained popularity among Korean fans in the late 1990s, but this is the first time they are performing in Korea. The industry is of the consensus that this will be an unprecedented competition of concerts between big stars.
