Backstreet Boys star AJ McLean has insisted that his debut album is “still happening” and will be released by the end of the year.

The singer, who has been working with artists including J.C. Chasez and OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder, told DS that he was nearly finished on the long-awaited record.

“I’ve been making my record for about four years, it’s been a lifetime in the making!” he explained.

“We finished [the new Backstreet Boys] record about three weeks ago, so now I’m wrapping up on my record. The album will be out in November, the single will be out in September but it won’t hit you guys until spring next year.”

What is a childhood memory that sticks in your mind?
When I was about 7 years old we were driving home from a theatre group rehearsal and it was dark and raining. All of a sudden Mom ran through a group of orange cone barricades and they flew over the car one by one. I was so scared that I sunk down into the seat and covered my eyes. When she finally stopped all I remember her saying was “I don’t remember those being there when we came this way this afternoon???”
