OK! Exclusive: Howie Dorough’s Wedding

Belting out dozens of swoon-worthy and romantic ballads couldn’t prepare Howie Dorough for the biggest day of his life — his wedding to longtime girlfriend Leigh Boniello.

“I had to hold myself back from crying,” Howie tells OK!. “She was so beautiful.”

The Backstreet Boy, 34, tied the knot with his lady on Dec. 8 in front of 180 guests, including his bandmates, Brian Littrell, Nick Carter, A.J. McLean and Kevin Richardson, who left the group last year, and OK! was invited for the big bash. After Howie and Leigh, 33, made it official, the couple sat down with OK! to reflect on their special day as they embark on their new life as husband and wife.

Back on the backstreets

Posted in 2007 - Interviews on February 18th, 2009 by admin

It’s boyband hysteria this week, with new releases from McFly, Take That and the biggest selling boy band of all time (90 million albums), the Backstreet Boys.

What kind of material can we expect on the new album?
It’s classic Backstreet Boys. Our fans are going to be very happy.

Interview with AJ

Posted in 2007 - Interviews on February 18th, 2009 by admin

They’ve survived a battle with substance abuse (respect to you, AJ), the loss of the one your mum thought was handsome but nobody really fancied (see ya Kevin!) and the worst curtains ‘do of the nineties (poor, poor Nick), but the Backstreet Boys are still going strong. They’ve even managed to keep their creative fires burning: Unbreakable, the group’s sixth studio album, is out later this month. We hooked up with AJ McLean – the manly one – to discuss their return to the classic Backstreet sound, sleeping with the enemy and why he wants to throw dollar bills at Britney.

When you first auditioned for the Backstreet Boys back in 1992, did you ever think you’d still be around 15 years later?
“Absolutely not – I don’t think any of us did. We’ve been blessed with some amazing writers and some amazing producers over the years, and I was blessed with four other great friggin’ singers who were talented enough to keep this name going for 15 years.”

Why I rock: Brian Littrell

Posted in 2007 - Interviews on February 16th, 2009 by admin

When you’re part of a group that’s sold 90 million albums, it’s a little tough to make the 100,000 units you’ve moved as a solo act look impressive — until it’s pointed out that those sales all come from a debut record sold strictly within contemporary Christian music’s comparably modest market and accompanied by a handful of international tours. Know how many brand-new Christian artists are touring Japan? Not many.

Inheriting a built-in audience the size of Kansas is just one of countless perks associated with being a card-carrying member of the biggest boy band in history. Case in point: Brian Littrell, who last year released Welcome Home, the gospel album he’d anticipated his entire life, while his ”other” project, The Backstreet Boys, took a temporarily leave.

From his home in Atlanta, Brian brings us up to speed on what’s up with the Boys and his decision to go solo.
